When Tamika Felder was diagnosed with cervical cancer, it felt like a death sentence. She mourned the loss of her fertility after a radical hysterectomy, which felt synonymous with the loss of her womanhood at the time. Upon recovery, she birthed an organization, Cervivor, to provide support and community for women with cervical cancer and fellow survivors. Ultimately, this community opened the door to motherhood for Tamika by way of gestational surrogate – fulfilling one of her lifelong dreams. In this video, she reflects upon her journey and shares what she wishes she knew about cervical cancer before her diagnosis 21 years ago, including early warning signs that she brushed off and the importance of regular pap smears.
